Linked - A Sense of Place

The inspiration for this collection came from an exploration of Herefordshire and my long family links to this beautiful county.

There are many black and white 16th century buildings in the county and thinking about who was walking around and how they were dressed led me to researchig the collars and ruffs worn at this time. This inspired the form of the collar in this collection.

The map contours of the countryside inspired my shape which I repeated in different ways to create this collection in silver.

  • Paper tests

I work with paper to test ideas before committing to metal. This allows me to play with shapes and explore ideas quickly.

  • Metal tests

Next I take my favourite paper ideas and make them in metal. The metal behaves differently and often this conversion opens up new ideas.

  • Final design

The design is finalised and brought to life in silver.
